"1-DAY Introduction to Performance Measurement"

Dates

This one-day course provides you with a solid basis for understanding and deploying performance measurement in organisations of all types. The course concentrates on practical techniques you can apply back at the workplace.

The basis to understand performance measurement is defining what we mean by "performance". The term is widely used; but, each user tends to have their own definition and this can lead to predictable problems of coordination. Performance measurement is built upon uncovering different stakeholders ideas about what performance means and how it is achieved. A range of tools and techniques can be used to make people think hard about performance and its consequences. These include mapping goals to gain insight into the hazy world of cause and effect and to challenge beliefs about the mechanisms that connect them.

This one-day course on performance measurement is designed to make managers profoundly challenge their understanding of what performance is and how it can be measured. It will examine the different perspectives on performance, the various frameworks in common use and the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches. The mapping and thinking tools for surfacing beliefs will be tested to demonstrate their usefulness. Ideas on how to design a new performance management system or strengthen an existing system will be introduced and implementation issues discussed.
